Inclusive Access to Writing

Writing belongs to everyone. This strand is about making that true in practice.

Proposed — not yet running

Purpose

To identify and reduce the barriers that keep people from creative writing — financial, physical, linguistic and social — and to welcome writers who have been told, one way or another, that literature is not for them.

Approaches we want to take

  • Choosing accessible venues and stating access information clearly.
  • Offering free or low-cost places wherever possible.
  • Welcoming work in Maltese, English and other languages.
  • Providing materials in accessible formats on request.
  • Plain-language explanations of literary terms.

Programme status

We label every programme by its real status. Where this page describes formats, schedules or participants, it describes the intended shape of the activity. Dates, venues and any costs are announced on the Events page only once they are confirmed.
