How we expect everyone to treat one another at Alliance activities, online and in person.

Expected behaviour
- Respond to the writing, not the writer.
- Listen fully before replying.
- Respect confidentiality — work shared in a session is not yours to circulate.
- Be mindful of time so everyone gets a turn.
- Respect different languages, backgrounds and beliefs.
Unacceptable behaviour
- Harassment, intimidation or discrimination of any kind.
- Unwanted physical contact or sexual attention.
- Photographing or recording people without consent.
- Plagiarising or appropriating others' work.
A note on difficult subjects
Literature deals with hard things. Writers may share work on difficult themes; we ask them to give a brief content note in advance, and listeners may step out at any time without explanation.
Reporting concerns
Raise concerns with a session coordinator or through the Complaints and Feedback page. Reports are handled discreetly and fairly.
