Where we are heading

Our Vision

A Malta in which writing is treated as something people do, not only something they study — and in which every voice has somewhere to be heard.

Vision statement

We picture a literary culture in Malta that is confident, curious and open: one where a retired teacher in Żebbuġ, a student in Msida and a newcomer in Bugibba are equally likely to find a reading circle, a workshop, or a single good conversation about a poem.

Long-term aspirations

  • Regular, welcoming spaces for writers to share and develop work.
  • Stronger connections between readers and local writers.
  • Creative learning opportunities for young people that complement, rather than repeat, the classroom.
  • Practical attention to access, so that cost, confidence, disability or language are not reasons to stay away.
  • A body of shared knowledge — guides, prompts and reading lists — freely available to anyone.

These are aspirations, not reports of completed work. Where an activity is running, the relevant programme page says so.
