Mission statement
Creative Writers' Alliance Malta works to encourage creative writing, reading and storytelling in Malta; to support people at every stage of their writing life in developing their skills; and to nurture a respectful literary community in which work can be shared, discussed and enjoyed.
Five working principles
- Creative freedom — encouraging imagination and original expression.
- Learning and development — promoting real opportunities to develop writing skills.
- Respectful exchange — valuing constructive discussion and diverse perspectives.
- Literary appreciation — recognising the importance of reading and storytelling.
- Community participation — encouraging responsible engagement through shared interests.
What the mission means in practice
A mission is only useful if it changes what happens on a Tuesday evening. For us it means keeping sessions open to beginners, keeping feedback grounded in the text rather than the writer, and keeping our public communication honest about what is running now and what remains an intention.
